What’s screening at the closure
The closure of Prime the Animation! 14 features the award-winning short films from its international competition, selected from works by emerging animation talents. According to the festival, the 2026 edition—under the theme «Freedom»—has stood out for its diversity in techniques, narratives, and styles, ranging from traditional to experimental animation. The session includes the official awards ceremony, recognising the best proposals in categories such as direction, screenplay, character design, and soundtrack.
Programme and duration
The event starts at 19:30 and lasts approximately 90 minutes, with no intermission. The screening of the winning shorts takes up most of the session, followed by the awards presentation and a brief Q&A with the creators, if the schedule allows.
Who it’s for
Prime the Animation! is an international festival driven by the Universitat Politècnica de València and the Institut Valencià de Cultura, aimed at industry professionals, animation students, and the general public interested in auteur cinema. The closure, in particular, attracts creators, producers, and distributors looking to discover new voices in independent animation.
