A landmark symphonic programme
On 23 October 2026, the Orquesta Nacional de España (ONE) will give a concert at the Sala Iturbi of Palau de la Música in Valencia, under the baton of David Afkham. The German violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann will be the soloist, performing two cornerstones of the symphonic repertoire:
- William Walton: Violin Concerto in B minor (1939). Composed in three movements, this concerto stands out for its balance between British tradition and modernity, with an approximate duration of 33 minutes.
- Sergei Rachmaninov: Symphony No. 2 in E minor, Op. 27 (1907). One of the Russian composer’s most iconic symphonies, lasting around 60 minutes and structured in four movements. The work is renowned for its melodic richness and expansive orchestration.
The concert will last approximately two hours, including an interval.
