What will be performed
The Opening Concert of the 2026/2027 Academic Year features three orchestral works: Richard Wagner’s Siegfried-Idyll, WWV 103, a selection from La pájara pinta by Óscar Esplà, and Suite No. 2 from El sombrero de tres picos by Manuel de Falla. The programme connects Wagner’s intimate chamber orchestra piece with two 20th-century Spanish scores linked to ballet and stage: one by the Alicante composer Esplà and the other by Falla, culminating in his famous final dance. The Palau notes that the programme may be subject to changes.
Who is performing
The Orquestra Filharmònica Universitat de València (OFUV), the musical ensemble of the Universitat de València, will perform under the baton of its principal conductor, Hilari Garcia Gázquez. The concert takes place in the Sala Iturbi, the Palau’s main symphonic hall, and marks the symbolic start of the university’s academic year with a public performance.

Admission to the OFUV concert is free, but tickets must be collected. According to the Palau, invitations are available from 20 November at 10:00 AM via their website and at the Palau’s box office. Seating is limited, with a maximum of 2 tickets per person, until capacity is reached.
