The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía presents a one-night-only performance of Norma, the most iconic opera by the Italian composer Vincenzo Bellini, on 28 May 2027. The work
Norma (1831) is a lyric drama in two acts based on the tragedy by Alexandre Soumet. The plot unfolds in Roman-occupied Gaul and tells the story of Norma, a Druid high priestess who breaks her vows after falling in love with the Roman proconsul Pollione. The opera is renowned for arias such as Casta Diva, which demands exceptional vocal technique and expressiveness, and is considered a cornerstone of the operatic repertoire.
