Who are Myrath
Myrath is a Tunisian progressive metal band formed in 2001 by guitarist Malek Ben Arbia at the age of 13, initially under the name X-Tazy. The group began by covering blues, heavy metal, and death metal tracks, but their sound evolved after the arrival of keyboardist and vocalist Elyes Bouchoucha in 2003 and later, singer Zaher Zorgati in 2007. With Zorgati, the band developed a signature style that fuses Arabic and Middle Eastern instrumentation with power metal and progressive rock, creating what they call «blazing desert metal». Their lyrics, inspired by Tunisian culture, and their blend of Islamic chants with powerful metal vocals have earned them recognition as one of the most relevant bands in oriental metal.
Today, based between France and Tunisia, Myrath is the first Tunisian band signed to an international label and has released five studio albums, the latest, Karma, in 2024.
