What the masterclass covers
The session, titled Dret a imaginar i oportunitats d’explicar, will focus on creating audiovisual narratives from an antiracist and decolonial perspective. It will explore tools to challenge the imaginaries and stereotypes that have shaped the representation of racialised people in film and television, as well as strategies for developing more diverse characters, perspectives, and authorship. The event is part of the cultural programme at Rector Peset Hall.
Who leads the session
Beatríz Mbula, an Afro-descendant actress, director, and screenwriter, will be the speaker. Trained at RESAD in Madrid, she has developed projects like the web series Asunto Casting (2020), where she worked as a screenwriter, director, and performer. Her work focuses on highlighting diversity in audiovisual media and creating spaces for racialised voices.
