What’s being screened
«La Pasión de Juana de Arco» (La Passion de Jeanne d’Arc, 1928) is a landmark of silent cinema directed by Carl Theodor Dreyer, based on the real trial records of Joan of Arc’s 1431 heresy trial. The film, renowned for its harrowing close-ups and Maria Falconetti’s performance, will be shown in a near-complete copy recovered in 1981 from a psychiatric hospital in Oslo. According to the Palau, this version offers unparalleled historical accuracy and expressive power in cinema history.
Who’s performing the live music
The original score is by composer Ana Teruel Medina, designed to engage with Dreyer’s images through a contemporary language. The performance is by the duo Tránsito Sonoro, featuring Bartolomé Llorens (clarinet) and Alberto Trabajos (electronics). The group, known for exploring new acoustic languages, blends the warmth of the clarinet with electronic atmospheres to enhance the film’s drama. The event is organised in collaboration with the Asociación de Mujeres en la Música.
