What’s on stage
«L’imperatiu categòric» is a theatre play written by Victoria Szpunberg that tackles labour precarity, loneliness, and the pressures of a system that suffocates individuals. The protagonist, Clara, a university ethics professor in her fifties, faces an existential crisis after her separation and the threat of eviction. Her recurring fainting spells and dark thoughts reflect her fragility in a hostile environment, mixing moments of ironic humour with growing despair. Directed by Joan Peris, the play is a raw portrayal of alienation in today’s society.
Cast and crew
The play features two performers: Laura Sanchis as Clara, the protagonist, and Miguel Seguí, who plays all the male characters—from an insensitive neighbour to a distant psychiatrist. The production is by Companyia Teatre Micalet, with lighting design by Vicent Cubells, costumes by Isabel Requena, and photography by Carla Almería.
