Homenaje a Serrat by MESTIZando at La Casa de Patraix

What’s performed

«Homenaje a Serrat» is a concert in which the group MESTIZando revisits a selection of songs by Joan Manuel Serrat, Spain’s most celebrated singer-songwriter in Spain and Latin America. The tribute’s repertoire spans both sides of his work: his own compositions and his musical settings of poems by authors such as Miguel Hernández and Antonio Machado, among other Spanish poets.

Who’s performing

MESTIZando is a trio made up of musicians from Cuba and Paraguay who blend instruments and vocals:

• Ernesto Urra (Cuba): guitar and vocals.
• Yoel González (Cuba): piano and vocals.
• Alejandra Cabañas (Paraguay): violin and vocals.

With guitar, piano, violin, and three voices, the group offers an acoustic interpretation of Serrat’s songbook from a Latin American perspective, in keeping with the group’s name.
