What’s being screened and who’s performing
The concert Grup Antara of CSMV and La Filmoteca presents an audiovisual programme combining contemporary live music with the screening of four short films. Two are silent film classics: At Land (Maya Deren, 1944), a dreamlike journey through surreal landscapes, and What's the World Coming To? (Richard Wallace, 1926), a futuristic comedy with reversed gender roles. The other two shorts, Aureola infinita (Rubén Marín and Ana Císcar) and After work (Nuria Pascual), are world premieres from La Filmoteca’s Curtcreixent 2026 programme.
The music is performed by Grup Antara, an ensemble from the Conservatorio Superior de Música de València (CSMV), under the direction of Voro García. The programme includes original compositions by Enrico Fumo, Diego Gimeno, and Zeynep Gedizlioglu, written specifically for this project and premiered in 2026. The ensemble features 25 musicians: woodwind, brass, percussion, piano, strings, and electronics.
Programme and duration
The concert includes four audiovisual pieces, each with its own live soundtrack:
- Aureola infinita (Rubén Marín and Ana Císcar, 2026): percussion solo.
- At Land (Maya Deren, 1944): music for ensemble by Diego Gimeno.
- After work (Nuria Pascual, 2026): music for ensemble by Enrico Fumo.
- What's the World Coming To? (Richard Wallace, 1926): chamber ensemble music by Zeynep Gedizlioglu.
The total duration isn’t specified, but the format—four short films with live music—suggests an experience of between 60 and 90 minutes.
