Symphonic and choral programme at Sala Iturbi
On 2 April 2027 at 19:30, Valencia’s Palau de la Música presents a concert as part of its Abono Sinfónico 29, featuring Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem in D minor, Op. 48. The performance will bring together the Orquesta de Valencia, the Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks and conductor Alexander Liebreich, alongside distinguished soloists.
Performers and works
The concert will feature double bassist Edicson Ruiz, who will perform «Night Voices», a concerto for double bass and orchestra by composer Toshio Hosokawa. Soprano Sara Blanch and baritone Ludwig Mittelhammer will be the vocal soloists in Fauré’s Requiem, a work composed in 1887 known for its serene and spiritual character.
In addition to the Requiem, the programme includes:
- «Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche, Op. 28» by Richard Strauss, a symphonic poem based on the mischievous exploits of the German folkloric character Till Eulenspiegel.
- «Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen», one of Gustav Mahler’s Rückert-Lieder, performed by baritone Ludwig Mittelhammer.
