What the masterclass covers
The session Del còmic a la pantalla explores the concept of documentary in its various forms, from comics to audiovisual media. Glàfira Smith, author of the comic Trufa, and Rose Kowalski, director and producer, will analyse how reality is reflected through these languages and what narrative and visual tools are used to achieve this. The event will focus on the process of adapting a graphic work to a film project, addressing creative decisions, the construction of the visual universe, the transformation of characters, and the adaptation of the narrative.
Who is participating
- Glàfira Smith: Author of the comic Trufa, a graphic novel that portrays a story of love and resilience through the relationship between a person and their dog. Smith has been recognised with awards such as the Catalan comic prize from the newspaper Ara.
- Rose Kowalski: Director and producer with experience in audiovisual projects. In this masterclass, she will share her perspective on how to translate a story from comics to the screen, highlighting the challenges and opportunities that arise in this process.
Focus and objectives
The masterclass is aimed at those interested in comics, documentary film, and the adaptation of works across different formats. Through the dialogue between Smith and Kowalski, the differences and similarities between both languages will be analysed, as well as the creative decisions involved in this type of adaptation. The goal is to offer a practical and accessible insight into how a film project is built from a graphic work, emphasising both the technical challenges and artistic possibilities.
