'Broken Music': Music and Poetry of the 17th Century in Valencia
The MuVIM kicks off its annual Concerts al MuVIM 2026 series with a concert that transports audiences to 16th- and 17th-century England. On 25 October at 12:00, the Cor Jove de la Comunitat Valenciana and the ensemble Equip Solnegre will perform 'Broken Music', a programme focused on lute songs—pieces originally written for the lute—that flourished in the Elizabethan court. These works, composed by figures such as John Dowland and Thomas Campion, stand out for their fusion of music and poetry, embodying the Renaissance ideal of harmony between the two arts.
Equip Solnegre has adapted the repertoire for an instrumental formation featuring recorder, cornetto, and viola da gamba, instruments characteristic of the period.
