Roots Flamenco with Conchi Maya
On 19 January 2027, Teatre Talia will host Flamenca soy, a traditional flamenco show starring bailaora Conchi Maya. Born in Motril (Granada) in 1975, Maya grew up in a Gitano family where flamenco was an essential part of daily life. The daughter of guitarist Antonio Gómez, ‘Antonio el de la Juana’, her training blends academic technique with the tradition of Granada’s flamenco, learned in tablaos and caves.
A Flamenco Show with Essence
Flamenca soy marks a turning point in Conchi Maya’s career. Under the musical direction of Javier Flores ‘El Indio’, the show brings together a stellar lineup of artists: guitarists Juan de Pilar and Dani de Manuel, and singers Antonio Amador Tonetti, Juan Amador, and Javier Flores himself. Through a personal interpretation of various palos flamencos, Maya champions a dance that is essential, profound, and rooted in tradition, fusing her academic training with her family heritage and Gitano culture.
