What is Cabanyal Reggae
Cabanyal Reggae is a series of concerts and music sessions bringing Jamaican rhythms—reggae, ska, dub and rocksteady—to the El Cabanyal neighbourhood. Launched in 2014 under the name Nehuen Reggae, it has since become a meeting point for artists, collectives and lovers of Jamaican music. Its philosophy focuses on supporting the local scene, promoting the release of music in physical formats and limited-edition vinyl.
The series stands out for its self-managed nature and commitment to spreading these genres, attracting both local and national artists.
Who’s playing
This edition features two acts:
Key Day: A Valencia-based project with over a decade of experience in Jamaican sounds. Their Key & Board project has reinterpreted classics by Alton Ellis, and alongside Newentun All Stars, they’ve covered tracks like «Bad Guy» and «All You Fascists Bound to Lose». Their style blends reggae and rocksteady with soul, funk and improvisation.
El Piñón de la Muerte: A trio consisting of Ales Cesarini on bass, David Gadea on percussion and Baptiste Bailly on piano. Their music spans jazz, groove and Jamaican rhythms, with a long-shared history that brings solidity and chemistry to their live performance.
The night will close with a DJ set by Javi Esko, specialising in reggae, hip hop, ragga and jungle.
