A concert within the Beethoven cycle
On 12 January 2027 at 19:30, pianist Boris Giltburg will give the fourth concert of his ambitious cycle Complete Beethoven Piano Sonatas in the Sala Iturbi at Palau de la Música. This project, running until the 2027-2028 season, commemorates the bicentenary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s death with a complete performance of his 32 sonatas.
On this occasion, Giltburg will perform the Sonata No. 9 in E major, Op. 14 No. 1 and the Sonata No. 4 in E flat major, two works that mark the composer’s transition towards a more personal and expressive style. The cycle, which began in previous seasons, is one of the few in Spain to tackle the complete set of these foundational works in the piano repertoire.
Programme details
Boris Giltburg, renowned for his refined technique and ability to convey the emotional depth of the works he performs, has chosen a programme that reflects Beethoven’s stylistic evolution. The Sonata No. 9 stands out for its clarity and elegance, while the Sonata No. 4 introduces greater drama and technical complexity.
