What is being presented
Bibiana Candia, a poet and writer from A Coruña, presents her novel Lar (Alfaguara), a work that reconstructs the epic of women whose defence of what was theirs turned them into a symbol of struggle and resistance. Published in 2026, the novel is the author’s latest work after the success of Azucre (2021), which won awards such as the Nollegiu, the Premier Roman du Chambéry, and the Espartaco at the Semana Negra de Gijón.
Who is Bibiana Candia
Born in A Coruña in 1977, Bibiana Candia is the author of the novels Azucre and Lar, as well as the poetry collections La rueda del hámster (2013) and Las trapecistas no tenemos novio (2016). She has also published the short story collection El pie de Kafka (2015) and the literary artefact Fe de erratas (2018). Her work has been translated into several languages, and she has contributed to magazines such as Jot Down, Letras Libres, and Ctxt. In 2020, she won the XXVII Carmen de Burgos Feminist Dissemination Award, and in 2021, the XLII Julio Camba International Journalism Award from Afundación.
