Antonello Manacorda and the OCV perform Berg and Mahler at Les Arts

On 18 December 2026, the Auditori of the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía will host a symphonic concert conducted by Antonello Manacorda, a regular guest conductor of the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana (OCV). The programme includes two key works from the late Romantic period and the transition to Viennese modernism: Alban Berg’s Sieben frühe Lieder (Seven Early Songs) and Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 in G major, the latter renowned for its fourth movement, «Das himmlische Leben» («The Heavenly Life»), a dreamlike lied that concludes the symphony.

Manacorda, acclaimed for his interpretations of Romantic and post-Romantic repertoire, will be joined by German soprano Christiane Karg, a frequent soloist with ensembles such as the Vienna Philharmonic and the Concertgebouw Orchestra. Karg will perform Berg’s Sieben frühe Lieder, a work that distils the emotional legacy of Romanticism in an intimate format, as well as the final movement of Mahler’s symphony.
