What’s screening at SGAE Centre
The 14 Prime the Animation! festival presents 57 short films in the Official Competition Section at SGAE Centre Cultural València, selected from works across 28 countries. As the only festival in Spain dedicated exclusively to new talent and debut works in animation, this edition explores the theme Freedom: an invitation to reflect on creative independence, diverse artistic languages, and the richness of personal visions free from external constraints. Screenings include traditional and experimental techniques, from 2D animation and stop motion to cutting-edge digital proposals.
Programme and dates
The SGAE Centre will host screenings on 26, 27, and 28 October 2026, as part of the festival running in València from 24 to 31 October. Each session groups short films by diverse themes and styles, with no fixed thematic programming announced. According to the festival, all works compete on equal terms, prioritising originality and the exploration of new visual narratives.
Who it’s for
The festival is aimed at students, industry professionals, animation enthusiasts, and general audiences keen to discover emerging talent. While there are no age restrictions, some short films may be geared towards adult viewers.
