What’s Showing
«Wolf Children» (Ōkami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki) is a Japanese animated film directed by Mamoru Hosoda, co-written with Satoko Okudera and produced by Studio Chizu and Madhouse. Released in 2012, the film won the Best Animation award at the Sitges Festival six years after the success of «The Girl Who Leapt Through Time», another work by the same director.
The story follows Hana, a young woman who falls in love with a wolf-man and has two children with him: Yuki and Ame, who inherit the ability to transform into wolves. After her partner’s sudden death, Hana moves to the countryside to protect her children and allow them to grow up in an environment where their nature won’t be discovered. The film explores Yuki and Ame’s growth and the difficult choice they must make as teenagers: live as humans or embrace their wolf side.
