What is «Fantasma» and what will the presentation cover
«Fantasma» is Nerea Pérez de las Heras’s debut novel, published by Alfaguara in September 2026. The book stems from an accident in the summer of 2023, when the author lost part of her right leg in a Mediterranean archipelago. Through an intimate and autobiographical narrative, Pérez de las Heras examines the physical and emotional aftermath of that loss, phantom pain, and the process of rebuilding oneself. The work goes beyond the personal to reflect on universal themes such as identity, memory, love, friendship, and public healthcare, blending sensitivity, critical insight, and humour.
At the 20 October event in Bangarang, the author will discuss the book and its themes with writer Christo Casas. It has not been confirmed whether there will be readings from the book or if the format will be an open discussion with the audience.
