The Centre Cultural La Nau at the Universitat de València continues its Aula de Narratives cycle in 2026, a space dedicated to literary reflection with contemporary authors. This time, the spotlight is on Manuel Jabois, a Galician journalist and writer whose career blends opinion journalism with narrative recognised in today’s Spanish literature.
Who is Manuel Jabois
Manuel Jabois (Sanxenxo, 1978) is one of the most prominent authors of his generation. He began his career at Diario de Pontevedra in 1998 and has since collaborated with media outlets such as Jot Down, El Mundo, Onda Cero, and currently, El País. Though his literary output is less extensive than his journalistic work, it has firmly established his voice in contemporary narrative. Among his best-known titles is Malaherba, a novel that delves into stories with a critical and human perspective.
What the colloquium will cover
The event on 13 October will focus on Malaherba, his latest published novel. According to sources, the discussion will explore the connection between cinema and literature, analysing how Jabois’s stories engage with both mediums. The session will also unpack recurring themes in his work: memory, identity, and the contradictions of modern society. Journalist and professor Enric Novella, a specialist in the History of Science, will present and moderate the talk.
Prices and access
Admission is free, but seating is limited. It is not specified whether prior registration is required, though previous editions of the cycle have recommended booking via the La Nau website.
