A workshop to regain control of your email
Email is one of the most personal tools we use: we store passwords, invoices, private conversations, and sensitive data in it. Yet, it’s also a constant target for spam, surveillance, and cyberattacks. On 25 September 2026, the collective GNU/Linux Valencia will host a practical workshop at Las Naves to teach how to protect it using free tools and simple strategies.
The workshop, titled «El teu correu electrònic, segur i sobirà», will focus on how to avoid junk mail, improve privacy, and reduce exposure to potential threats. All with open-source solutions accessible to any user, without requiring advanced technical knowledge. The event is free and no prior registration is needed.
Install Party: Install GNU/Linux on your computer
Before the workshop, starting at 17:00, there will be a space dedicated to the GNU/Linux Install Party. If you’ve always wanted to try this free operating system but didn’t know where to start, or if you already use it but have questions about configurations, this is your chance. Attendees will be able to:
- Install GNU/Linux on their computers (it’s recommended to back up data beforehand).
- Solve technical issues or doubts with the help of the community.
- Discover free alternatives to proprietary software.
The Install Party is open to all levels, from beginners to advanced users. Just bring your equipment and a willingness to learn in a community setting.
Schedule and practical details
- 17:00 - 18:30: GNU/Linux Install Party (help and installation space).
- 18:30 - 20:00: Workshop «El teu correu electrònic, segur i sobirà».
- Venue: Las Naves (C/ Joan Verdeguer, 16, Valencia).
- Total duration: Approximately 3 hours.
- Requirements: No minimum age or prior knowledge. For the Install Party, it’s recommended to bring your computer and a backup of important data.
