Guided tours of the Arctic Sunrise
The Arctic Sunrise ship by Greenpeace will be docked at La Marina de Valencia from 19 to 27 September and will open its doors to the public with free guided tours. The vessel, renowned for its environmental campaigns, arrives to support 11 Greenpeace activists facing trial on 23 September for a peaceful protest in 2021 at the port of Sagunto against a gas-carrying ship. The Public Prosecutor’s Office is seeking five years in prison for aggravated public disorder.
Visiting hours
- Saturday 19 and Sunday 20: 10:00-13:00 and 16:00-20:00.
- Friday 25: 16:00-20:00.
- Saturday 26 and Sunday 27: 10:00-13:00 and 16:00-20:00.
No booking is required, but capacity may be limited.
Press conference with UN rapporteurs
During its stay, the Arctic Sunrise will host a press conference featuring UN special rapporteurs and the accused activists. The event aims to denounce the criminalisation of environmental activism and defend the right to peaceful protest. The exact date and time will be announced during the ship’s stay.
