Literature and art in dialogue
On 30 September 2026, the Institut Valencià d’Art Modern (IVAM) presents a session of the Escrituras cactus cycle, focused on the intersection between writing and contemporary art. On this occasion, writer Agustín Fernández Mallo—known for his work Nocilla Dream (2006) and his interdisciplinary approach—will take part in a conversation analysing the influence of sculptor Julio González on today’s literature. The cycle, curated by critic Jorge Carrión and moderated by architect Berta Ferrer, brings together authors such as Andrés Neuman, Alicia Kopf, and Manuel Baixauli to reinterpret the legacy of the Valencian artist.
The event is part of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of Julio González’s birth and is part of a broader programme that will include the publication of a book featuring essays, stories, and poems inspired by his work. Fernández Mallo, a graduate in Physical Sciences with a literary career marked by experimentation, will offer a unique perspective on how science and art can converge in narrative.
