A contest to capture the magic of solar eclipses
The Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències is launching the third edition of the international AstroCiutat astrophotography contest, this year focused on solar eclipses. This competition aims to promote astronomical photography, blending art, science, and outreach. In its previous edition, it received over 300 entries, and the winning images were displayed in the free-access area of the Museu de les Ciències, a perfect space to showcase participants' talent.
Categories and prizes
The contest features two categories:
- Solar Eclipse of 12 August 2026: with prizes of €1,500 (first place), €1,000 (second), and €500 (third) in astrophotography equipment and accessories.
- Other Solar Eclipses: with three similar prizes in value.
Results will be announced on 30 September 2026, and the award ceremony will take place on 30 October 2026 at the museum.
How to participate?
The submission period for photographs is open from 13 August to 13 September 2026. Interested participants can check the rules and submit their work via the official contest website. There are no age limits or special requirements—just a passion for astrophotography and creativity to capture these astronomical phenomena.
How to get to the Museu de les Ciències
The Museu de les Ciències is located in the heart of the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències, one of Valencia’s architectural icons. Here are your transport options:
By public transport
