A summer of open-air cinema in Valencia
Filmoteca d’Estiu 2026 returns with its A River of Cinema cycle, turning the Palau de la Música Gardens—right in the heart of the Turia riverbed—into an open-air cinema. From 31 July to 29 August, the Valencian Institute of Culture (IVC) will screen 19 films (17 features and 2 shorts), blending European and American classics with recent Spanish releases.

The A River of Cinema cycle pays tribute to films where water takes centre stage, featuring titles like L’Atalante (Jean Vigo, 1934), The African Queen (John Huston, 1951), The River (Jean Renoir, 1951), and Aguirre, the Wrath of God (Werner Herzog, 1972). There will also be room for contemporary gems like The Water (Elena López Riera, 2022) and premieres such as Alba Just (2025).
