Debates on the future of the Horta
The XVI Universitat d’Estiu de l’Horta returns in 2026 with a programme dedicated to the social and economic challenges facing Valencia’s territory. Under the title Treballar i viure de l’Horta, this edition will address topics such as the sustainability of agriculture and livestock farming, the impact of touristification, land speculation and the difficulties in accessing decent housing. The event, held at Castell de Alaquàs on 25, 26 and 27 September, will combine round-table discussions, practical workshops and spaces for collective reflection.
The final programme will be published in the coming weeks, but it is already known that it will feature farmers, urban planning experts, representatives of neighbourhood groups and academics. The aim is to foster dialogue among different stakeholders to find solutions to the problems affecting both rural areas and the cities of the region.
