A journey through urban sustainability
The RehabilitaTour is a free guided tour taking place on 26 September 2026 in Cabanyal-Canyamelar, analysing how the neighbourhood's architectural evolution has influenced its energy efficiency. Organised by the Valencia Energy Office, the activity starts at 11:00 at CC Escorxador, a former slaughterhouse now transformed into a cultural hub in the maritime district.
Over 2 hours, participants will discover:
- The different construction phases of Cabanyal and their impact on sustainability.
- The Urban Heat Island Effect, a phenomenon that increases temperatures in dense urban areas.
- How energy consumption in buildings is measured using a thermal camera in real time.
No prior registration is required, but capacity is limited. Arriving 10 minutes early is recommended. The route is accessible, though participants are advised to check for any specific barriers.
Perfect for locals, architecture or environmental studies students, and anyone interested in how cities can reduce their energy footprint.
