What is «Sing Street»
«Sing Street» (2016) is a film directed by John Carney, known for his work on Begin Again (2013) and Once (2007). Set in Dublin in 1980, it tells the story of Conor, a teenager who, amid a family financial crisis, changes schools and finds an escape through music. To impress Raphina, a mysterious girl, he decides to form a band and shoot music videos. The film blends drama, comedy, and an original soundtrack inspired by the rock and new wave of the era.
The runtime is 106 minutes, and it is rated as not recommended for children under 12.
Who is presenting the re-release
The screening on 1 October will feature a special presentation by Marina de Cinematé, a regular collaborator at Cines Lys and a fan of John Carney’s cinema. The event aims to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the film’s original release.
