Presentation of «Viva la foto» at Railowsky
On Thursday 24 September at 19:30, Railowsky bookshop hosts the launch of «Viva la foto» by Pollobarba, a self-published book celebrating his 50 years in photography with a playful take on the medium. The free event coincides with the opening of the bookshop’s 42nd season and the exhibition «Weekend», dedicated to contemporary photography.
A book to rethink photography
«Viva la foto» brings together 91 photographs and 758 words in which Pollobarba challenges the solemnity surrounding the discipline. The author proposes a more lighthearted approach, starting from the idea that «photography is dead» and that the only thing left is to enjoy it without pressure. Through short texts and reflections, he tackles topics like narrative, authorship, and ethics in portraying others, always with a casual and unpretentious tone.
The project was designed, written, and illustrated by the author himself, with contributions from Estudio Paco Mora (digitisation) and La Imprenta CG (printing). The book, published by Fuego Books, will also be available at Feria Fiebre, an event dedicated to photographic self-publishing.
