A dialogue on creation and farewell
On 29 September 2026, the Aula Magna at La Nau will host Les separacions de Paco Roca, a talk in which the Valencian author will explore his career through an unusual lens: how a creator experiences the moment of parting with their works. Organised by the Aula de Cómic of the Servei de Cultura at the Universitat de València, the event is part of the centre’s cultural activities and coincides with the release of his latest work, still untitled.
Paco Roca (Valencia, 1969), National Comic Award winner in 2008 for Arrugas, is one of Spain’s most internationally recognised authors. His works—such as Los surcos del azar, El invierno del dibujante, and Regreso al Edén—have been translated into multiple languages and adapted for film and theatre. In this talk, Roca will share his insights into the creative process, from the conception of an idea to its release and reception, as well as the emotional impact of "letting go" of each project.

Roca’s work: memory, history, and emotion
Roca is known for his ability to tackle complex themes with sensitivity. Arrugas (2007), for example, portrays Alzheimer’s through the relationship between an elderly man and his carer, while Los surcos del azar (2013) tells the story of Spanish republicans who fought in the Second World War. His latest work, still in development, continues this line of historical memory and intimate storytelling, though the author has not revealed details about its content.
