What the book offers
El arte de viajar sin moverse del sitio is an essay that turns the conventional notion of travel on its head. Inspired by the narrative styles of W. G. Sebald and Jorge Luis Borges, Hilario J. Rodríguez crafts a fragmented narrative where personal memory, cultural criticism, cinephilia, and marginal literature intertwine. Across its 136 pages, the author follows a series of atypical nomads—from Ricardo Piglia’s insomnia in hotel rooms to Reinhold Messner’s mountaineering—to propose a radical idea: travelling isn’t about moving from place to place, but about reclaiming the ability to observe and imagine. Published by Barlin Libros, the book challenges mass tourism and restores travel’s critical dimension and its power to unsettle.
