A Conversation Between Literature and Sculpture
On 30 September 2026, IVAM (Institut Valencià d’Art Modern) presents the sixth session of the Escriptures cactus cycle, a programme celebrating the 150th anniversary of Julio González (1876–1942) by inviting contemporary writers to reinterpret his legacy. This time, Agustín Fernández Mallo, author of works like Nocilla Dream and Trilogía de la guerra, will discuss his creative process and approach to the Valencian sculptor’s figure with moderator Berta Ferrer.
The cycle, which began in January 2026 and runs until November, brings together authors such as Andrés Neuman, Alicia Kopf, and Jorge Carrión to explore González’s work through diverse literary languages—from fiction to essay and experimental poetry. The resulting texts will be compiled in the publication Escriptures cactus, available at the IVAM shop.
