What Waseel Al-Rough offers
Waseel Al-Rough وَصِيل الروح —"Soul Connection" in Arabic— is a musical project that reinterprets Arabic and Mediterranean sound traditions from a contemporary perspective. Created by Syrian Omran Adrah (qanun), Valencian Alberto Mateo (oud) and Palestinian Hussein Al Rob (percussion), the trio builds a dialogue between classical instruments and modern melodies, prioritising improvisation and the intimacy of live performance. Their repertoire defies labels, blending roots with modern influences in an acoustic and intimate format.
Who’s performing
The concert will feature three internationally trained musicians:
- Omran Adrah (Syria): qanun player, a plucked string instrument key to Arabic music.
- Alberto Mateo (Valencia): oud specialist, with collaborations across Middle Eastern and European projects.
- Hussein Al Rob (Palestine): percussionist skilled in traditional Arabic and Mediterranean rhythms.
