Valencia in 1824, on stage
The Grupo de Danzas Santa Bárbara revives in Romanços i Manifecers a chapter of Valencian history: the San Valero festivities in Russafa in 1824. Through a narrative that blends romances, gossip and social rivalries, the show transports audiences to an era where popular culture—with its jotas, boleros, fandangos and albaes—was the heart of daily life. Performed by a live rondalla, tabal and dolçaina, the production not only rescues traditional melodies but also weaves them into a staging that combines dance, music and theatre, turning the stage into a space of collective memory.
