A theatrical portrait of post-war Valencia
Rogles de cançons i misèria is a production by Cactus Teatre performed at the TEM on 17 October 2026. The play, premiered in May 2026 at Sala Russafa and Teatre Auditori Municipal d’Aldaia, focuses on five rogles (women’s gatherings) recreating daily life in a post-war village: washing clothes, sewing, giving birth, cooking and praying. Through everyday gestures—soap, water, threads, bread and childbirth—the piece highlights the "unimportant" stories of those anonymous generations of women, blending silence, popular songs and small acts of tenderness.
The fragmented structure and contemporary tone of the play aim to reclaim a collective memory, far from grand historical narratives. There are no individual protagonists, but a chorus of voices that together paint a mosaic of survival and resistance.
