Multidisciplinary debate on poverty
Rector Peset Hall at the University of Valencia is organising a free event on 25 September 2026 to address the causes and solutions to poverty in the Valencian Community. Titled Lluita contra la Pobresa, the event is part of the Human Rights Film Cycle 2026-2027 and is framed within the Pobresa Zero campaign, which that year commemorates two decades of activism in the region.
Topics and speakers
The programme includes interventions by collectives and experts on six key themes:
- Fiscal justice: Cristina Ramón.
- Climate justice and ecofeminism: Yayo Herrero.
- Feminism and poverty: Coordinadora Feminista.
- Right to housing: PAH (Plataforma de Afectados por la Hipoteca).
- Decent work: trade unions CCOO and UGT.
- Human rights and international solidarity: Coordinadora Valenciana d’ONGD.
It has not been confirmed whether the event will include audiovisual projections or only debate panels. Admission is free and no prior registration is required, although the venue has limited capacity.
Context and relevance
This encounter is one of the central activities of the 16th Human Rights Film Cycle, which in 2026-2027 focuses on the fight against poverty. On 17 October 2026, the same venue hosted a 12-hour event with workshops and cultural activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Pobresa Zero campaign in the Valencian Community.
