Art, memory and resistance at the Aula Magna
On 22 September 2026, the Aula Magna at La Nau will become a space for reflection on the relationship between art, historical memory and dissent. Under the title La mirada insumisa: creadores, memoria y disidencia, the Aula d’Arts Visuals of the Servei de Cultura Universitària (UV) is organising this free event, which is part of its cultural and academic programme.
What will be discussed?
The session, starting at 18:00 and running until 20:00, will explore a dialogue between contemporary creators and collective memory, particularly that which has been silenced or marginalised. While the participants—artists, researchers or activists—have not been publicly confirmed, the focus will be on how visual art, literature or cinema have served as tools to highlight stories of resistance and recover historically excluded voices.
The colloquium is part of the Colección Arts Visuals at the UV, a project that since 2018 has promoted the creation and dissemination of works with a critical perspective. This edition appears to connect with thematic lines previously explored at the centre, such as the intersection between gender, nature and traditional knowledge, as suggested by references to "women who history has sidelined" in one of the sources.
An open format for debate
The event will combine brief presentations—possibly by the speakers—with a Q&A and debate with the audience. No prior registration is required, but seating in the Aula Magna is limited, so arriving early is recommended to secure a place.
