Scene, thought and activism in the tenth edition
The X Cicle Escèniques Cuir reaches its tenth edition with a programme that blends performing arts, critical reflection and activism. From 16 to 27 September 2026, Carme Teatre will host nine proposals exploring how structural violence—from ableism to housing exclusion—intersects, while offering alternative perspectives to imagine possible futures. Organised by the venue and the DISSIDENTS association, the festival maintains its commitment to being a safe space for gender and sexual dissidence.
Programme: standout works and artists
Under the theme THE INTERSECTION, the festival presents pieces ranging from documentary theatre to contemporary dance, all with a political and transformative approach. Some of the confirmed proposals include:
- Eduardo Casanova opens the cycle on 16 September with a performance on HIV stigma, combining testimony and scenic action.
- No solo duerme la noche (20 September) addresses gender-based violence from an intimate perspective, blending text and movement.
- Erik Harley (23 September) explores technology-mediated sexuality in a piece questioning the boundaries between public and private.
- Fernando Troya (22 September) links migration and housing in a work reflecting on exclusion and the right to the city.
All performances are free admission until full capacity is reached, though some parallel activities—such as debates or workshops—may require prior registration.

Since its first edition, the Cicle Escèniques Cuir has established itself as a benchmark in Valencia’s cultural scene for its commitment to diversity and innovation. This tenth edition reinforces its dedication to contemporary creation and cultural mediation, offering not just performances but also spaces for dialogue between artists and audiences. As the organisers put it, the goal is to "name the wounds with precision to, from there, rehearse other possible ways of living."
