A Journey to the Baroque Through Cervantes
On 27 November 2026, L'Auditori de Torrent transforms into the stage for Vanitas: Cervantes Through the Mirror, a theatrical and musical production that explores Miguel de Cervantes’ figure from an intimate and human perspective. Under the stage direction of Luis Luque and musical direction of Carles Magraner, the show brings together Fran Perea as actor and reciter, alongside the Baroque ensemble Capella de Ministrers, to create a dialogue between the Spanish Golden Age and today.
Word, Music, and Theatrical Chiaroscuro
The performance avoids academic rigidity to focus on emotion, using live Baroque music—performed by Capella de Ministrers—as its guiding thread. Described as "mysterious, passionate, and luminous," the compositions accompany Cervantes’ texts, while Fran Perea embodies a relatable and vulnerable Cervantes. The dramaturgy by Ignacio García and Luque’s staging enhance this interplay of light and shadow, characteristic of Baroque art, to reveal the contradictions and humanity of Don Quixote’s author.
