The exhibition reclaiming the memory of cigar makers
Valencian Cigar Makers: The Last Generation is an exhibition paying tribute to the women workers of Valencia’s tobacco industry, a key but often overlooked group in the city’s social history. Through photographs, documents, and testimonies, the show explores their reality: their dedication to work, their fight for equality, and their efforts to balance professional and family life. Far from stereotypes, these women were protagonists of a story of resilience rarely told.
A space for reflection
The exhibition, located at La Reina 121 (Calle La Reina 121, Valencia), connects the legacy of cigar makers with today’s generations. The display includes historical and contemporary material, inviting visitors to reflect on how their example remains relevant in the defence of labour rights. The Cabanyal neighbourhood, where the space is located, reinforces this dialogue between past and present, between memory and Valencian identity.
Admission is free, and the exhibition will run until September 2026. A cultural plan accessible to all, offering a chance to discover an essential part of Valencia’s history.
