A reflection on shared fragility
Verse expuest_ is the new solo exhibition by Rocío Garriga (1984) at the Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània. The exhibition, housed in Sala 1, takes the bombing of Hamburg Zoo during World War II as its starting point to explore themes such as vulnerability, violence, and exposure to the gaze of others. Through historical documents and contemporary works, Garriga invites visitors to reflect on how bodies—both human and animal—are measured, classified, monitored, or judged.
The artist, known for combining visual languages with a strong symbolic component, creates a space for contemplation on the ways in which we look. Her recent work has focused on the connection between living beings and their environment, using this exhibition to present past stories with a contemporary perspective.

Rocío Garriga is a Valencian artist who selects materials and forms based on their expressive potential. Her recent projects, such as Verse expuest_, aim to forge new relationships between viewers and historical narratives. Among her accolades is a nomination for the Valencian Performing Arts Awards for her set design in Bürstner's Club.
