Screening of MISÉRICORDE in Valencia
The Edificio Rialto, home of the Valencian Film Library, hosts the screening of MISÉRICORDE (Miséricorde), the film directed by French filmmaker Alain Guiraudie in September. Released in 2024, this suspense and psychological drama will be shown in two sessions: September 18 at 18:00 and September 20 at 20:15, with a duration of 102 minutes.
Synopsis and cast
MISÉRICORDE tells the story of Jérémie, a young man who returns to his hometown, Saint-Martial, to attend the funeral of his former boss, Jean-Pierre. During his stay at the home of the widow Martine (played by Catherine Frot), Jérémie becomes entangled in a web of secrets and disappearances that challenge the apparent tranquility of the place. The cast also includes Félix Kysyl in the lead role.
The film, praised for its oppressive atmosphere and intriguing narrative, cements Guiraudie’s status as a prominent figure in contemporary European cinema, following works like Stranger by the Lake (2013) and Staying Vertical (2016).
