A gem of Asian cinema in Valencia
The C.M. Rector Peset, a cultural venue of the Universitat de València, will host the screening of «In the Mood for Love» (In the Mood for Love, 2000), directed by acclaimed filmmaker Wong Kar-Wai, on 2 October 2026. This film, considered a masterpiece of contemporary cinema, stands out for its visual aesthetics, melancholic narrative, and unforgettable soundtrack, composed by Shigeru Umebayashi.
The plot follows Su Li-zhen (Maggie Cheung) and Chow Mo-wan (Tony Leung), two neighbours in 1960s Hong Kong who discover their spouses are unfaithful. Through chance encounters and fleeting glances, an emotional connection emerges, which they choose not to consummate, in an exercise of restraint and narrative elegance.
Session details
The screening is part of the «Dones, Una de cada» cycle, which explores the representation of women in cinema. The session will begin with a presentation by Amparo Romero, though it has not been confirmed whether there will be a post-screening discussion. Admission is free and does not require booking, but seating is limited.
