The exhibition
On 5 September 2026, Blacklight Art Gallery (Reina Na Germana, 20) will inaugurate Gingles & Gingles: Conversations, the first exhibition in Spain to bring together the work of Graham Gingles (Northern Ireland, 1943) and his daughter Lisa Gingles (Northern Ireland, 1974), who has been based in Valencia since 1998. The free-entry exhibition opens on 4 September at 18:30.
Two artistic perspectives
Graham Gingles, a member of the Royal Ulster Academy, is renowned for his works steeped in symbolism and mystery, blending painting, drawing, and sculpture. His pieces are part of collections such as those at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA).
Lisa Gingles, meanwhile, works with drawing, collage, and sculpture, exploring themes like mythology, folklore, and memory through hybrid figures and dreamlike landscapes.
A dialogue between generations
The exhibition presents a dialogue between two creative universes that, though distinct, share a fascination with the fantastical and the symbolic. Creatures, masks, and objects inhabit an ambiguous realm where the familiar transforms into something unexpected.
