Choreography on Wheels: Memory and Freedom
Flip is a creation by choreographer Marta Izquierdo, designed specifically for public spaces. Performed on quad skates, the piece pays tribute to Éric Martin, a contemporary dancer and former artistic skater, who at 67 shares the stage with Izquierdo. Through a fictional autobiographical narrative, the work evokes youth, the thrill of speed, and the popular culture of skating, blending dance, humour, and memory.
The performance transforms the street into a space of play and resistance, where movement on wheels becomes a powerful scenic gesture. Flip champions the body as a tool for creation and expression throughout life, challenging stereotypes about age and art.
