A play between science and emotion
Ens protegeixen les estrelles is the show with which the Catalan company Temple de Vesta opens the Kilómetro 0 season at La Máquina. The play draws from Schrödinger’s cat paradox—a theoretical experiment that posits the coexistence of opposing realities—to explore existential questions: What if we could move between parallel universes? Is it possible to cheat death or alter the past?
The performers Genís Lama and Anna Cerveró tackle these themes from two angles: quantum physics and the human anguish of the inevitable. The piece is not a science lecture but a theatrical reflection on the fear of ceasing to exist, FOMO (fear of missing out), and the search for comfort beyond the tangible. The result is a production that oscillates between the intellectual and the poetic, leaving the audience with a key question: Where does science end and comfort begin?
Though inspired by scientific concepts, the play is accessible to all audiences. No prior knowledge of physics is required—just curiosity about universal themes like time, reality, and finitude.
