El Anacoreta at the Valencian Film Library
The Edificio Rialto, home of the Valencian Film Library, hosts the screening of El Anacoreta (1976), a film directed by Juan Estelrich with a screenplay by Rafael Azcona. This work, starring Fernando Fernán Gómez, is part of the Centenario Rafael Azcona cycle, paying tribute to the Spanish screenwriter.
Synopsis
El Anacoreta tells the story of Fernando Tobajas, a man who, after eleven years of voluntary isolation, lives confined to the bathroom of his home. While his wife Marisa continues her life outside that space, Fernando builds his own world among everyday objects and memories. The film explores themes such as loneliness, seclusion, and family relationships, with Azcona’s signature style: sharp humour and social critique.

A 10-session pass for €20 is also available. Tickets are sold at the Edificio Rialto box office 30 minutes before each screening.
