A dialogue between cinema, research and citizenship
On 25 September 2026, CC Nave3 Ribes joins European Researchers' Night with a cinefórum using audiovisuals as a tool for social debate. Organised by the Faculty of Social Education at Universidad Católica de Valencia, the event proposes a collective reflection on contemporary challenges through the screening of the pilot episode of Dieciocho, the RTVE Play series released in 2024.
Dieciocho: a look at the reality of unaccompanied migrant minors
Dieciocho is a six-episode series—each around 30 minutes long—that tells the story of Moha, an unaccompanied migrant minor about to turn 18, and Cèlia, a 17-year-old sentenced to community service in a soup kitchen. Through their story, the fiction explores themes such as immigration, racism, social prejudice, and the pressure of a system that sets limits—legal and emotional—upon turning 18. The pilot episode, to be screened at this event, lays the foundation for a narrative blending drama, social critique, and a love story in a context of vulnerability.
After the screening, the series’ director and creator, Hammudi Al-Rahmoun Font, will take part in an open Q&A, exploring the connections between audiovisual storytelling, social research, and education. The goal is to create a space for dialogue between academia, culture, and the public, using cinema as a bridge to foster empathy and debate.
